MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

Messrs J. A. Frostick and J. Hadfaeld, J.P.s, presided at the Magistrate's Court yesterday. Three first offenders for drunkenness wero each fined 5s and costs, in default twenty-four hours' imprisonment. Geo. Kobinson Foster, charged with unlawfully deserting his wife, was remanded till this morning. Rouse Mableson was fined 10s and costs for riding a bicycle at night without a light. Wm. Archibald was hned a similar amount for riding a bicycle on the footpath. Wm. Vernall and Alfred Geo. Cordner were each hned 5s and costs for allowing cattle to wander at large. Wm. Hunsley pleaded guilty to covering the roof oi a building with tiles of less than 20 inch gauge, also to not deoositina with the City Council sufficient plane o f a building beforo he erected it. He was convicted and ordered to pay the costs. Wm. Blaokburne Buddicom, charged with failing to provide maintenance for an illegitimate child, was retmande<l to appear at Palmerston North on Monday.
