TO-DAY'S PARADE.
TO TITB EDITOR or "TU_ press.' Sir,—Saturday's Volunteer parade and inspection by Ccloncl Robin in Cranmer square should bo ono of the* finest military displays we havo had here for a long time, and no place lends itself so well as Cranmer square for such a display to be seen with advantage, if only tho public can be induced to act with common sense, "ft hat I would suggect is that the insido of the square be. left entirely for tho Volunteers, and tho public bo mado to stay outside the rail; then wo could .'.cc, and tho Volunteers would not bo hampered in their various movements. The impressive funeral parade for the late Premier was marred by the publio pressing- in too closely. If the poli-co or a certain number of Volunteers cp-'ild bo told off to keep tho public outside the rail they would certainly earn the gratitude' of yours, etc., FIVE FOOT NOTHING. Preparations wero in hand yesterday for illuminating tho Christchurch Post Office buildings in honour cf Dominion Day. The illumination takes the form of the word* '"Dominion of New Zealand" in electric light letters.
