LABOUR FOR MR BRYAN.
United Press Association—By El*ctrio Telegraph—Copyright. NEW YORK, July 11. The American Federation of Labour, controlling two million voters, promises to support Mr Bryan.
"On overj' side there are signs" that organised labour is preparinc to teet its power in the political field," says tho New York "Literary Digest" of May 2nd. In ©very largo city of the United States meetings wero held on Easter Sunday to pass resolutions demanding specific legislation by Congress during tho present session, bufc Congress did next to nothing, and labour leaders were reported recently to be profoundly dissatisfied at tho in.action of legislators. "Throughout the session Congress h«s been besieged by organised labour (assisted , by Mr Roosevelt) for legislation that will relieve it of conditions which it feels are burdensome," says the New York "Post." "The American Federation of Labour has literally camped at the Capitol since the session began. It has appealed to the Speaker, to the leaders in. the Senate, to tho President and to th© country. It has been backed up by the allied organisations represe-nting the railroad employees of the country. The session comes to an «nd without any of the Bills in which organised , labour is interested being enacted except the. Employers' Liability law, and) another law providing compensation for government employees injured' in the discharge of their duty."
