MELBOURNE, July 16.

Mr ))eakin, referring to Mr McKenna's statement in reference to the Australian naval defence scheme, said that the Admiralty was content with the present arrangement; but it must refer only to the currency of the present agreement, and not to any period after its expiry. He knew that some of the advisers of tho Admiralty were anxious to terminate the agreement, as it cost more than it was worth.
