AMURI COUNTY COUNCIL.

The Amuii County Council met on Soptombsr Ist, Messrs D. Rutherford (chairman), W. Forrester, A. MacfarlaiK, , \V. Maciarlaue, J. AicArthur, and W. Thomson being present. The Commissioner of Crown Lands- wrote that the offer of a subsidy of £50 towards the Jlason River protective works would Jiold good until the proposed River Board was formed. The secretin ry of tho New Zealand Counties' Association wrote that, as no reply had been received from the Premier with regard to the Local Government Reform Bill, it was impossible to fix a date for the. proposed conference •of delegates; also, asking for particulars of any business this Council wished to brine forward. The Alayor of Wellington aelved for suggestions for the proposed Soddon. memorial. The circular was received. Tho Kowai Road Board advised that it proposed to apply for a Commission to apportion the cost of reconstructing and maintaining the Saltwater Creek bridge on the Main North road, and suggesting that six psr centum would be a fair allocation for the Amuri County Council. It was decided to agree to the proposal. The secretary of the New Zealand International Exhibition applied for the Council's promised donation to the Canterbury court, £50. The matter was deferred until flic next meeting. Voluminous correspondence between, the Audit Office and the County clerk with regard to the balance-sheets for the year ending 31st March laet was read. The refusing to oertify to them in their present shape, it was decided to defer the matter until the documents were returned fronv Wellington. Mr J. Coakley eeked the Council to metal about two miles of the Lyndon-Sherwood road. It was decided that the matter would be considered in the allocation of the proposed loan, and in tho meantime a. man would be sent to repair the bad places. Mr A. Macfarkne applied to the Council to take over a raid he had laid! off at Rotherham. Hβ was informed that he must first form and metal tLj» road to the satisfaction of the Council. Tenders received from J. tor forming and metalling tho Weiau streets at 11s per chain and Is 10d per cubic yard were accepted, subject to an adjustment with the overseer. A tender for metalling the Achray-Mt. Palm road from H. T)alzell at 2s 7d per cubic yard was declined.. The overseer was directed to send the road gang to" Rotherhnm after they had finished at Balmoral. Tho receipts for the pnet month were:—General account £227 13k, maintenance account 7s Id. interest account 4s 9d. The balances wore :•-County fund credit £804 12s, maintenance credit £133 Cβ Id, interest credit £10 7s 10d. Accounts Amounting, on the general accounts to £221 5s yd, and on the maintenance account £275 Be, were passed* for payment. :
