Tho Surveyor was instructed to prepare .alternative c&timaics of the cost- of rebuilding tlve bridge oh Macintosh's Creek, and of substituting a fonl in. lieu of this bridge. The Lake Coleridge Bond Board will bo asked, if they will contribute towards the web of- rebuilding this bridge, oa it is used chiefly by traffic to and from.the Lake Coleridge road district. •Mγ Wilson gave notice that at the next meeting he will move—"That the attention of Mr Hardy, member for Selwyn, be called to the fact that subsidies, paid to local bodies amount to little more than half the statutory amount of 10s in tho £; thai as these wibsidka are permanent grants by statute, the Board would like to be informed why the full amount of lOn in the £ has. not been paid when surpluses of about threequarters of a million are published; that this Board is of opinion that it is very unfair'to Boards that receive no' special grante to Lnvo their subsidies reduced by nearly one-half, and trusts that Mr Hardy will endeavour to get the full statutory amount put on the Appropriation Act." Mr Wilson also gave notice. to move—"That the Board consider and determine the best method of dealing with the heavy traflio pawing through the district from outside districts, especially by traction engines." Mr Johnston gave notice to move—"That the Board takes the necessary steps to hare the district divided into wards." It was decided to strike a. general rate of jd in the £ for the current year, and to collect with it the rate levied by the County Council under provisions of the Birds Xuimnce Act. The contribution (£137 16s) required from the district for hospitals and charitable aid will be paid out of the general rate. Accounts amounting to £152 wore passed for payment.
