ROAD BOARDS.
MANDEVHiLE AND RANGIORA. The above Board met on February 13th. Present—Messrs F. Howell, Dalziel, Stevenson, Leech, and Stalker. A vote of condolence with the widow and family of the late Hon. W. Rollestcn was carried. It was resolved that as no nominations were received for members of the Waimakariri Board, the retiring members be recommended for appointment, and that the Board is of opinion the control of the Harbour Board should be vested in tlie Kaiapoi Borough Council. A letter from the Kowai Road Board in regard to a copy of the engineer's report on the Lower Ashley bridge stated that a meeting of the local boards would bo called at an early date. The ranger complained of cattle belonging to a native constantly straying on the rood, and it -was decided to summon the owner. The Drainage Board offered 5d per yard for 1000 yds of gravel from the main drain near Flaxton. Consideration was deferred. It was decided to cease the purchase of birds and eggs. The receipts were £139, 16s, and debit balance at the bank £196 17s. Accounts amounting to £232 2s Id were passed fdr payment.
