, .*• / . ■ DIX'S GAIETY COMPANY. There was a good attendance last night at the Opera House, when the (benefit given by Mr P. R. Dix for* the Cheviot Relief Fund took jjlace. The programme was a very good one, and encores were frequent. , In the minstrel part Misses Olive Lenton, Annette Bodtn, and -Sdßllie He-bert, Mr [ Marion, and Mr Frank Ydrke were all re- I ceived with loud applause. In the speciality ' niion of the programme Mr Aus-tahßudd I to* respond to four or five re-calls. ; The educated ' bears went through their j performance with a; good deal of success, ) and the antics -of their monkey attendant ! created much amusement. Olive ; Lenton sang "Only a Penny," with some \ verses having reference to the Cheviot 'dis-'j aster. Her appeal resulted in £1 8s be- i ing thrown on the stage in" silver and cop- < per. The total result for th. fund, after ded_cting the expenses of the night, will : be £19 17s 9d. To-night the company wiX agaan appear, whgn a. new programme will'be given, and on Monday-evening MrErnest Fitts and Mass Maud Hewson will * app-ear. There will be a matinee performance by the Dix Company at the Opera House this afternoon.
