A. meeting -of tl»' 1 ■: Waimakariri River Board was held yeeteriday. Prepeiit—Messrs England (cbairmaji), H. ,W. Peryirmii, Q. P. Carpenter, C. P. Money, and James G-lanville. AnL apology for absence was received from Mr W. E. Samuels, owing to illness. T3ie Engineer's report was read, stating tha/fc no floods had occurred in tie river during the past. month. -The planting of willow stakes between Nos, 6 and' 7 embankments had Deeoi completed, at a cost of £27, including wire and staples. So. 1 7 groin, at Ohaney's, (had' been raised, at a cost of £12. About 6000 Silver poplars taken up from the (railway reserve at Chaney's for planting, and the work of cutting and stubbing the.igorse and. broom on the ' "Board's" reserves lhad s( been commenced. ■ . '■ , ( Mr Carpenter l-eported that it had. been decided to clear a paten of dense gorse on the reserve recently .leased by Mr Stead, as an experiment to ascertain the cost of clearing gorse on the Board's reserves. It was agreed that members pay a visit to the ground. •.-•■• Accounts totalling £96 lOs 4d were passed for payment: " Discussion regarding the new Counties Bill followed, and it was resolved to leave the Bill on tie table till mext meeting.
