LYTTELTON,
I An ordinary meeting of* the Lyttelton : Borough Council, held last night, was attendied by his Worship the' Mayor and Crs. Brown, Webb,: Garrard, Radcliffe, Kay, Smith, Cook, and Cleaiy. Amongst the correspondence read was a. letter from the Police Commissioner Tuiubridge, to the effect that an additional constable would shortly be placed at Lyttelton. A resolution jof thanks was carried. Mr C. J. Reakes . wrote stating he would inspect the proposed : site for the abbatoir. The Finance Committee reported receipts amounting to £401125, and rfcommended payment of accounts amounting to £205 10s 3d. The general ac- ; count was in credit £680 10s 9d. The report was adopted. The Lighting Committee presented a draft of the proposed Bill for the lighting of Lyttelton. The draft was approved, and ifr was decided to submit it to the borough solicitor. .The Water Supply Committee submitted a report from the Foreman of Works making a suggestion as to the laying of the pipes through the tunnel in a trench and covered with shingle, instead of being enclosed in a box. The saving would be about £650. The suggestion was adopted, subject to the approval of the Railway authorities. It was decided to call for tenders for the 8-incK pipes required for the tunnel, to be delivered in Lyttelton. Sketch plans for the fire brigade station, as supplied by Messrs Collins and Harman, were laid on the table, and'the description of the building was read. The matter was referred to the Finance and Fire Prevention Committeee to report. The Town Clerk reported that £675 of the year's rates had been paid. A large number of dogs remained unregistered. It was resolved to take immediate action against owners of unregistered dogs. The Works Committee was empowered to call for tenders for the abattoir building, with power to act. This concluded the business. .
