'BOERS ALLEGED TO SHOOT WOUNDED BRITISH. (Received July ?fch, 12.12" a.m.) LONDON, July."B. The '"Standard" states that Viljoen and 400 men have broken across the Delagoa Bay railway northwards, and ace now at Bothasbetfg'. Botha has returned towards Erme-10.
The "Daily Mail" publishes a. letter from its special correspondent in South Africa, Mr Edgar_ Wallace, embodying the sensa-tional-narrative of an eye-witness, apparently an officer, of the battle at Vlakfontein. This eye-witness alleges that he saw two of Commandant Kemp's Boers deli.shooting the wounded, four of whom they- killed. The victims included a sergeant, slightly wounded, and an officer, to whom the sergeant was offering water.
An additional ten Gordon Highlanders were woundedi by the wrecking of the train at Naboomspruit. Tlhree of the Marquis of Tullibardine's Scottish Horse were killed and nine wounded at Elandshoek on the 3rd. RETURNING AUSTRALIANS. (Received 'July Bth, 9.21 a.m.) ALBANY, July 8. The troopship Orient has arrived from Capetown with a large detachment,of returning Australians.
