SWIMMING.
At a meeting of the Swimming tion held last night, the, secretary reported that all tbe arrangements were complete for sending Mr M. E. Champion to Melbourne, and that lie would leave by the Moana on Friday. Owing to numerous requests, it was decided to "hold a race meeting in th-e Lancaster Park baths on Thursday afternoon at 5.15. A fifty yards handicap race will be swum, and Champion will endeavour to break the New Zealand record in the quarter mile. He will be paced by th* best local swimmers for the various lengths, and, as he has improved co_si'l-Erahly since competing in the'chaiaj-ions-hip. a- splendid performance should be v.-.! nested. It was resolved that, as the meeting would be in aid of the Association funds, all officials should be asked to pay the price of admission—one shilling*—and that for ladies the price should 03 sixpence.
