Tho syndicate formed to work the Greymouth lagoons have, says the "Greymouth Star" decided after a thorough prospecting of the ground to abandon further expenditure, the prc.pc-.t3 obtained not being sufficiently good to warrant further outlay. The goldsaving tables have a travelling gear to carry tho endless screen, thus keeping it clean. It will bo interesting to note the difference between the amount of go.d obtainable from a table which is travelling and one standing still. Another feature is the dredf-e ladder, which is adapted to work in a crer.cent from a centre, thus taking a wide stretch, in front of the dredge, and doing away with the necessity tor any lateral motion. The designer of tho dredge is Mr James Bishop, mining engineer. , the Dome Creek Gold Dredging Company s newly-completed dredge started operations on the claim on the 7th instant. The dredgemaster reports that the machine is working smoothly.
