DRUNKENNESS. Thomas Richards, who was found drunk in Tuam street on Friday, was on Saturday ' lined 20s by Mr Bishop, S.M., in default seven days' "imprisonment. —James JKoss, on v similar charge, was fined 10s, in default x orty-eiglit hours, and John Williams, also for "drunkenness, was mulcted, in a penalty o* 20s. with an alternative of forty-eight hours' imprisonment. DESERTION. : A seaman named Henry Wainwright, who on January 3rd of last year had deserted from H.MS. Mildura at Sydney, was or- : dered to be handed over to the naval autho- j rities at Lyttelton. At Lyttelton, on Saturday, before Mr W. Radcliffe, J. P., a first offender was fined 5s i and co-iCA 2s fxl, fur drunkenness, j At Ashburton, on Thursday, before C. ! A. Wray Esq.. S.M., the following civil cases were dealt with: —Judgment for plaintiffs was given in —Pollock v Tutty, £3 13s 3d; Masters . v Fitzgerald, 17s, Court costs; Connolly ; v Sutherland. £f>. Connolly v Petrie, claim [ £1 15s. Mr Watson for defendant, who i pub in a counter claim for £2 10s.
