The Marquis of Dufferin presided at a meeting of the shareholders of the London and Globe Finance Corporation to consider the directors' circular, advisin*- voluntary liquidation. Mr Wright, tha managing director, explained that in order to obtain control of the Lake Viaw Consols shares, he negotiated a loan of half » million till March 31st. and gave as security forty thousand Lake View Consols shares and other securities.
Thoss who were the lenders of the money sold the same, and during the following day-; h-i personally advanced a quarter of a million to avert a crisis. The directors had practically arranged with the creditors, and hoped to pay their liabilities in full. Jhe meeting unaniniou-ly adjourned till Monday, when the reconstruction scheme will be submitted.
