POLICE COURT.

DRUmEN-NESS. James Welsh and Patrick Doddy, charged ■with having (been found helplessly drunk, were on Thursday ramanded to ths Hospital for medical treatment. Two male first offenders for drunkenness were each fined ss, or in default 24 hours' imprisonment. MaryHerbert, charged with a similar offence, was fined IQs, or in default 48 hoursr imprisonment. 'Messrs J. M. Thompson and E. H. Ricketts were the presiding justices. A male first offender was fined 5s by Messrs J. M. Thompson and It. M. Taylor, J.F.s, yesterday, and Elizabeth Adttmss, an old offender, was sentenced to fourteen days' imprisonment. As LytteJton on Thursday, William Bard, for being drunk, was fined by Mr J. T. Briee, 5s with the usual alternative. ALLEGED INDECENCY. A man named John Williams was alleged to have committed an indecent act in Cashel street on January 6th. There was no appearance of the defendant, but the offence was proved by a constable, and a fine of 10s was inflicted. BICYCLE BY-LAW OFFENCES. George McColl was fined 10s and costs for riding his bicycle along the footpath of Madras street. Adam Menzies, Francis Carl, and John Sutton were each 'fined 10s and costs for riding their bicycles at night without carryiug lighted lamps. CONTROLLING STREET TRAFFIC. John David Perry, pleaded "fiuilty* , to driving two horses 'and a cab across the intersection of Lichfield, High, and Manchester streets at more than a walking pace. He was fined 10s and costs. ALLEGED BREAKING AND ENTERING. At the Lyttelton Police Court, yesterday, before Messrs J. Hamilton and W. Cook, J.P.s, Donald Mcßae was charged with breaking into the premises of James McGregor, in Salt's Gully, with intent to commit a crime.
