(SPEC-AX. TO "THE PRESS.") DUNEDIN, January 10. Dredging matters are still quiet. The Rise and Shine" have now got men cutting a site I to build their dredge en. The machinery is being erected on tbe Half-way House Dredge, which is expected to prove the best of the new dred-jes on the Molyneaux. Good progress is alsc being made with the erection of the machinery on the Kelly and Casey, and Arthur's Point expect to have run out their machinery in a few weeks. Ine . Second Magnetic will start on the _lst of this mouth, the river being too high at present. Heavy rains in tbe Lake district have caused a hi" rise in the Kawarau and Molyneux, and will°have the effect of stopping the operations of several dredges. The dredo-master of the Chatto Creek expects to bottom and open out on virgin ground iv a few days. WELLINGTON, January 10. Two steamers leaving here for the West Coast to-day take part of the gold aredging machinery made in Melbourne.
