VTCTORIA CROSSES AWARDED.
(Received September 18th, 10.28 a.m.) LONDON, September 18. Two members of Strathcona's Canadian Horse have been awarded Victoria crosses.
A THREAT TEAT WAS HEEDED,
(Received September 18th, 10.25 a.m.) LONDON, September 17.
General French was repeatedly annoyed at the Boers sniping at his troops after he had occupied Barbeiten, and, in order to put a stop to it he threatened to withdraw and bombard the town. Tha sniping thereupon ceased.
NEW ZEALAND PRISONERS RELEASED.
(Received September 18th, 10.55 p.m.) LONDON, September 18.
Captain Bourn and Lieut. Cameron, New Zealanders, have been released from Barberton.
COLONIAL CASUALTIES,
The following casualties are reported: — Tasmania: Private Bailey, killed; Private Richardson, wounded. New South Wales: Private Black, died of pneumonia.
SYDNEY, September 18.
Lieut. White and Lance-Corporal Bang, of the New South Wales Bushmen, were killed at Wonderfontein, Lieut. White instantaneously, while scouting.
