The Gresham and the Pareora are expected from Greymouth. the former on Thursday and Hhe latter on Wednesday.
The Dingadee is to go' into dock to-day foi cleaning and painting. The Kestrel left for Kaiapoi at nine o'clock on Saturday morning, and was beating out to the Heads during tHe afternoon. She encountered a high sea and squally weather from the north-east, but eventually succeeded in getting away.
The Annie Hill was towed into the stream yesterday afternoon. The Limari was towed into the stream on Saturday afternoon. She sails for Hokianga to-day.
The Star of Australia sailed for Wanganul on Saturday afternoon. The Cygnet, which sailed for Picton at 5 p-.m. on Saturday, took 700 packages of material for the Awatere bridge, and twenty men whc are to work on its construction. The Pa/panui returned from Port ChalmerE. yesterday morning. She did not call at limaru. 'P«mng this week she leaves loi Waitara, and Wellington. The Mapourika arrived from Picton and Nelson vi# Wellington at a quarter past one o clock yesterday afternoon. , Since her arrival in the colony the Blackball collier Gresh&m has maintained a reputation for good steaming. She recently miuJc a fine trip irom Lyttelton to Greymonth, averaging 11 knots for the entire distance. _Captain Le Nevu, who was in charge of the Huddart-Parker liner Anglian when she first came on the New Zealand coast, ie now in charge of the company's steamer Corio, the latest addition to its fleet. The Corio was until her arrival in Australian waters a few weeks ago, known as the Frances Holland. She ia a steel screw steamer of 12061 tons, built at Sunderland in 1898. She carries 3000 tons dead weight on an 18ft draught, ■and steams nine knots on 14 tons of coal a day. Her length ia 286 ft, beam 43ft 2in, and depth of hfold 18ft 7in. The Corio ia to be engaged in the coal trade between Newcastle and Port Kembla and Adelaide. Private advices state tha.t another application has been received by the Westport Coal Company for a cargo of coal to China, and that the vessel under charter will shortly make her appearance in •fliese waters. Some interest was taken in the departure of the Tomoana and Eakaia from Wellington on 16th June for London, and it was generally exported that the Tomoana would be the first to arrive, but advices to hand show that tihe New Zealand Shipping Company's vessel beat her Tyser rival by two days, the Rakaia arriving on the-sth and Tomoana on 7th inst.
