DARFIELD.
At the Darfield monthly market on Friday only 2600 sheep were yarded, being the smallest market held at these yards for a considerable time past, but while the entry of fat sheep was small, they were mostly of good to prime quality, and sold well. There was a Ml attendance, and bidding for all classes exceedingly brisk, a complete clearance being effected. The following were the prices: —Freezers 17s 9d to 19a 6d, extra weights 20s, half-finished sheep 16s lOd to 17s 3d, crossbred ewes in lamb 14s 9d to 16s 2d, an extra good line 19s 2d, inferior 11s 9d to 13s 7d, merino ewes in lamb 10s 10d to 13s, inferior 7s 3d to Bs, fat merino ewes lls, crossbred hoggets 11s 6d, store crossbred wethers 14a 3d to 15s 9d. The principal sales were for Mr W. Stott, 100 freezers at 20s; Mr J. A. Holmes, 130 at 19s 4d; Messrs R. and J. Reid' 30 at 19s 6d; Mr Pat Morrison, 130 at 18s 6d; Mr F. Bull, 63 crossbred ewes at 19s 2d, 29 at 16s 2d, and 125 merino ewes in lamb at 13s.
Messrs H. Matson and 00. have sold 2500 acres of land in the Ashburton district, on account of Mr T. W. Belcher, to Mr Thos. Langley, of Dromore, at a satisfactory figure.
