CHRISTCHURCH FOOTBALL CLUB.
At the invitation of Mr R. J. S. Harman, president, and Messrs C. H. Croxton, E. S. Harley, J. R. Evans and N. L. Macbeth, and Dr. Thacker, vice-presidents, the members of the Christchurch Football Club spent a very enjoyable evening at a smoke concert at tlie Clarendon Hotel on Saturday. The Chairman congratulated the champions of 1900, amd on behalf of the club presented gold badges, in the form of a ffoalpost, bearing the raised inscription, "C.F.C., 1900," to the following players:—Messrs Middle-ton, Harper, Parry, Rice, Martin, Harvey, W. J. aEd P. Byrne, C. A. B. Pyne.'K. W. Payton, Frost, Moller, Avers, BendaJl, C. Smith, Walter, Evans, OHivier, Cowlishaw, H. S. Lawrence, Pascoe and Ml!wraith. Tho President presented Mr Middleton (club captain) and Mr Frost (field captain) each with a gold trinket football, suitably engraved, and also presented the club caps tfiven by Messrs Harley, Macbeth ar)3 Jack to the best forward and back in tho First, Second and Third Fifteens respectively. Each cap bore the .club's monopram in the form of a silver brooch. Messrs Parry, Ayers, Fox, Lawrence, H. Martin and A. Van Asch were the recipients of these t-ropliies. A number of toasts were honoured, and songs were contributed by Messrs Hume, Hoare, Smart, Wilson, Ryan, C. Smith and Dr. Thacker.
