United Press Aaaooiaiioc—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, October 22. Signor Foli, the famous basso, is dead. PARIS, October 20. The death is announced of Colonel Schneider, the Austrian military attache, who figured prominently in the Dreyfus case.

(Signer Foli firat made hia appearance in Italy, in 1865, and owing to hie great success" was engaged by M. Napier for the Italian opera in Paris. He was then engaged by Mr Mapleson at Her Majesty's, after which he appeared at the Royal Italian Opera House, Covent Garden, being cast for all the leading bass parts in "Robert the Devil," "The Huguenots," "William Tell," and Verdi's "Aida." He also accompanied Adelina Fatti on her tour through Russia in the early part of 1870. In the Handel Festival at the Cryl&l Palace, at Birmingham, and other prominent festivals, he appeared with great success. Since 1866 he was constantly before- the British public, with whom his fine voice and splendid style of declamation rendered him a special favourite. Indeed, except, perhaps, Jidouard De Reske, Signor Foli possessed the finest bass voice of modern times. He visited New Zealand some years ago, and gave a series of conceits in Christchurch at the Theatre Royal, and one concert in the Choral HalL
