Mr FLATMAN urged as a compromise ing interest the Californian Thistle Bill be passed. Ultimately it was agreed to take the Mining Act Amendment Bill in Committee. MINING BILL. A new clause, proposed by Mr R. Mo» KENZIE, to reduce the miners' right fee to 5s was lost by 28 to 25. The Bill was reported with amendment. On the motion lor the third reading, Mr GUINNESS complained that the Go-vernor-in-Council was making one set of regulations for the whole colony. He advocated the setting of Mining Boards in I each of the three principal mining centres to deal with special circumstances. The Bill was read a third time and passed. SUPPLEMENTARY ESTIMATES. On the motion to go into Committee of Supply on the Supplementary Estimates, Captain RUSSELL urged that the House should adjourn till Monday, instead of rushing through the Estimates, so that proper consideration could be given. Messrs PERANI and TAYLOR complained that the Premier did not intend to introduce a Technical Education Bill. The . latter moved an amendment that no 'fresh land be acquired for railway construction until the Betterment Act was in operation. The House adjourned at one p.m. till I 7.30 p.m., an amendment that the House adjourn trll ten a.m. on Monday was lost on the voices.
