United Press Association—By Eloetrie Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, October 18. The total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for tbe United Kingdom is 1,940,000 quarters, and for the Continent 1,400,000 quarters. Bank shares—Bank of Australasia, £62 15s; Bank of New South Wales, £41; Union Bank, £33 IDs; National Bank of New Zealand, £2 10s; Bank of New Zealand 4 per cent, guaranteed stock, 101_; New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company's 4 per cent prior lien debentures, 92. At the tallow soles 1125 casks were offered, of which 117 were sold. Mutton, fine, 28s 6d; medium, 275. Beef, fine, 27s 9d; medium, 26s 3d. The A_*ario_n visible supply of wheat is 69,218,000 busheSs. Messrs Dalgety and Company, Limited, have received the following cable message from their London office, under date 18th inst: — "Since our last telegram prices of tallow in general are 3d to 6d per cwt. lower. Speculators are forcing the sales of parcels and shipments afloat at a low price. As a result, tallow prices may go lower yet. The demand is chiefly for November-December shipment per sailer."
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company have received the following London cable message, dated 18th inst.: "Wheat—Market inactive. New Zealand average and long-berried are worth respectively 30a 6d and 31s 6d per 4961b. "Tallow—-Market flat. New Zealand fine and good beef are worth respectively 28s 6d and 27s 3d per cwt."
