CANTERBURY v ELLESMERE
After postponements from various circumstances, a match has been arranged between a Canterbury team and the Ellesme're Association. It closes the season, and will be played at Lee<=ton on Saturday. Tho team to represent Canterbury has been selected as under :—Full back, C. Burreli; three-quarters. P. Menzies, W. Byrne, McGillicuddy ; five eighths, C. D. Butler ; halfback, L. Forbes; wing forwards, G. E. Wooller; forwards, H. Frost, O. Molier, B. Fanning. G. Evans, R, Cook, E. Brunsden, G. Bush and G. Pas'eoe; emergencies—backs, H. Lawrence, C. Pine, J. Middletnn ; forwards, T. O'Brien, W, Drake, M. Thomas and Walters. Any who are unable to piay are to inform the Secretary of the Canterbury Rugby Union as early as possible. The drag leaves Cathedral square at 10.30 a.m. on Saturday.
WELLINGTON, September 12. I The Nelson Rugby Union passed the following resolution—"That this Union is en- ! tirelv in accord with the proposal to send a New .Zealand team Home next year, but considers most emphatically that the. team should be sent under the auspices and entire control and management of the New Zealand Rugby Football Union, and not under that of a private individual.
