NAPIER, September 12. . The Supreme Court criminal session ' opened this morning. There was a strong box to welcome Sir Robert Stout, but, at' • his request, bhere was jao ceremony. Inhi* charge to the grand jury the Chief Justice congratulated the district on the light calendar, which besides being ehort was free jfrom offences againsb • persons. The jury i threw out the 'bill against Forbes Minto, who was charged with, toreakding and entering at Waipawa. Andrew Neilson pleaded. ' guilty to horse stealing, and vraa remanded -" till to-morrow for sentence. Michael Augustus Riley, who pleaded guilty to forgcmg an. endorsement to a promissory note for £11 10s, was also remanded for sentence. John j Lindsay, a lad of fifteen years of age, pleaded 1 guilty to two charges of theft at Hampden, ; of £5 and£lo respectively, and woe admitted' to one year's probation.
