A GOVERNMENT REVERSE.
The Opposition were certainly not asking too much when,.after one o'clock this morning, they contendedit was quite time the House adjourned, considering they had sat all through the previous night and until eight o'clock in the morning. The proposal to adjourn, however, mad- the Premier very angry, and he threatened the Opposition with the closure. The motion to report progress was lost by 27 votes to 26. As it now appeared that another all-night sitting was to be forced upon them, the Opposition proceeded to divide themselves into relays. The Opposition Whip refused all pairs, and the onus of keeping a House was left upon the Government. After further debate the question to report progress was again put, and in spite of the opposition of the Government, it was carried by 27 votes to 25, amid loud applause.
