FIRES.
A fire at 12.15 a.m. yesterday burntdowfi an unoccupied three-roomed lean-to cottage in Jeffrey's load, Papaniri. The building, wlrich was leased by Mr A. Penman, waa insured for £50, bul in what office has not been ascertained. Mrs A. .Hawkins, who resides in an adjoining cottage, reports that she was wakened by hearing some one running, and gravel was thrown*against her window. She got up, and found the cottage in flames, but no one was about. Incendiarism is suspected.
(press association telegram.) > AUCKLAND, September 20. The house of Mr Joseph Barriball at Wainku has been destroyed by fire. The furniture has been lost. Tho insurance amounts to £150 in the NorwichTDnion office.
