CYCLING.

A meeting of the Executive of the New Zealand League of Wheelmen was held last night. Present—Messrs W- E. Thompson (in the . chair), Williams, Milne, Cotton, Kirk, Thompkins, and Lethaby. The following permits were granted-.—September 24th, Otago Cycling Trades; October 12th, Otago Labour Day . Demonstration; November 3rd and 4th, Bruce Cycling Club. The application of the'Bruce Cycling Club for affiliation was agreed to. A letter was read from the Ariel Club, appointing Mr D. Ryan as their delegate. Mr Ryan's appointment was confirmed. A letter w,as received from the Wellington Cycling Club, appointing Mr Atcheson as their delegate, and the appointment was approved. Mr B. J. Atkinson's appointment as consul for the same Club was also agreed to, and in accordance with a request it was'resolved to allot a provincial championship to the Club- A letter was read from the Wanganui Club, forwarding a sketch ; programme of events, for which £102 was given, including several special prizes. „The programme was passed by the Executive. It was resolved that a telegram be sent by the Secretary with reference to the Australian champions tour, pointing out that where there were two clubs in a centre the £10 asked for as a subsidy would be divided between them, and also that the two clubs should hold a joint meeting. The Chairman brought under the notice of the meeting a circular issued by Mr A. Wildey, in view of the annual meeting, with reference to the appointment of the r 'New Zealand Cyclist" as the official organ of the League. This circular, the Chairman stated, had been issued to certain clubs, and he thought the League Executi _c should answer it. Mr Atack moved—"That a sub-committee, consisting of Messrs Thompson, Kirk, and Cotton, be appointed to draw up an answer to the circular issued by Mr Wildey, and send the same to affiliated clubs." " The motion was carried, and the meeting adjourned.
