THE AUTHOR. It is almost unnecessary to say anything about Mr Watson, who, as a Christchurch man, has in a sense a particular claim on the interest of the reading public in New Zealand, Many have read Mr Watson's former books' with considerable pleasure. The freshness of his style and his mastery of words, combined with a fertile imagination and happy .knack of vividly painting surroundings, lend to his writings a charm somewhat infrequently met with. Since the author retired from an important position on the "Pall __all Gazette"ho has been devoting himself to literature. A good deal has been expected of him, and in "The Adventurers" it is not too much to say we have work which justifies the anticipations of his' friends. In the Same Issue of the "WEEKLY PRESS" Will appear the First Chapters of a Story of Surpassing Interest, "THE YELLOW HAND," By Allan Upward, Author of "Secrets of the Courts of Europe* No more attractive story than this will be found in any magazine in the present yopr. Allan Upward has . rapidly gained himself aplace in the front rank of writerß of bright and vividly interesting • fiction, and the proprietors of the Weekly Press have spared no expense to secure the copyright of this hia new, serial, which is expected to surpass in popularity his previous work.
