LOCAL BOARDS OF CONCILIATIO.
Mr Justice Edwards is of opinion (says the " New Zealand Times") that it would be an advantage if the Conciliation and Arbitration Act were amended in the direction of recognising local Boards of Conciliation, by which matters in dispute could be settled by representatives of either side in preference to bringing them before the Arbitration Court. The representatives of the parties in the boot trade dispnte concurred in sucb proposal, and his Hon. ur threw out a hint that it would not be a bad idea if joint representations were made to the powers that be on the subject.
