OTAGO WINTER SHOW.
(By Telegraph.) (BY OUR SPECIAL REPORTER.) DUNEDIN. June 2. The attendance at the Show on the opening day numbered 4000, and the attendance since has been vt-.y satisfactory. The weather is delightfully fine, and there has been a large influx of visitors from the outlying districts. The Challenge Shield of fifty guineas, given by Messrs Nimmo and Blair tor the best five boxes of factory-made butter suitable for export, now becomes the property of the Taieri and Peninsula Milk Supply Company, they having won it three times. On the present occa_dan there were ten competitors, and the winners scored 95 points out of a possible 100. There were only a few exhibits from Canterbury, but in each case they were successful. Mr J. Jones took a first prize for some fine specimens of mangels, which he had grown by the valuable aid of Islington manur.s. Mr Gwrge Seat-jn, of Kirwee, and Mr J. McJohnstone, of Rolleston, were also prirte-takers for roots, the stimulating properties of Islington manures being much in evidence in each case. Mi E. Kelly, of Studbolme, took a prize for dressed poultry, and Mrs W. Black, of Whitecliffs, carried off first honours for home-made biscuits.
