HARBOUR BOARD.
The adjourned special meeting of the Harbour Board was held yesterday. Present—Messrs F. Graham (chairman), Dunlop, Chalmers, McMillan, Joyce, Hay and Captain McClatchie. The Chairman said that the meeting had been called to receive the reply from England to their cable re the purchase of the dredge Manchester. The committee had sent a cable on May 16th, through the Minister of Marine, to the following effect:— "Board offers £12,000 dredge Manchester subject inspecting engineer's report in dock, satisfactory Board pay docking." No answer having been received there was no business to transact, and it would, therefore, be for the Board to say to what date it would adjourn. After some discu. sion, it was resolved to adjourn to June 2nd, the Chairman in the meantime, should a reply be received, to convene a special meeting. The proceedings then terminated.
