(PRESS ASSOCIATION TKLEGRAM9.) AUCKLAND, May 19. The provisional committee to arrange for the North Shore native regatta, to be held at the time of the industrial exhibition, have decided as a leading item a race for Maori war canoes, in canoes fitted up in imitation of Wliakatawa?. It has been decided to offer £100 for the first prize, £50 for the second, and £25 for the third. Arrangements will be made to eet a large number of Waikato and East Coast natives in town in oidei- to make up the crews of the canoes. NAPIER, May 19. The proposal of the joint committee representing the different loc-il bodies to establish public abattoirs at Tomoana, was rejected by the Borough Council, and a committee has been set up to collect data regarding a proposal to build abattoirs for the town only, on the outskirts of the borough.
