MANDEVILLE AND RANGIORA.
The monthly meeting was held on the 13th mat. Present —Messrs J. Horrell, J. Stalker, D. Buddo, J. Stevenson, and U. Leech. Mr D. Buddo was elected Chairman. On a ballot it was decided that Messrs Leech and Stevenson should be the next members to retire. The use ot the Board's office was granted to the WaimakaririAshley Water Supply Board for the poll on May 26th. It was decided to have a report on Mr Beer's bridge. The Kowai Road Hoard forwarded resolution passed in reference to Ashley bridge. Mr Y. Gulliver was appointed dog ranger. The Charitable Aid Board applied for £178 18s lid, and the Hospital Board for £154 4s. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr Stevenson, seconded by Mr Leech —"That the Board cannot but regret that though labour is plentiful, the amount charged to local bodies for aid is increasing at an undue rate, and asks for a reason for such increase." In regard to a claim of £5 from Mr T. Dench for injuries to a horse through a spike proj jecting above a bridge causing his horse to fall and dt-inage its knee, it was decided to decline liability. It was agreed to purchase heads of sparrows, larks, and linnets at 4d per dozen. It was decided to clean side channels at Woodend and Southbrook. It was decided to repair bridges at Waikuku, and do patching on Oxford-Mount Thomas roads. It was decided a. report be obtained on Busch's road. The receipts were £98 Is 6d, and the credit balance £561 10s 9d. Accouats £185 12s 2d were passed for payment.
