WELLINGTON, May 9.
The New Zealand Natives' Association has decided to form a volunteer corps, not, however, confined to members of the Association. The Premier, who was pi esent at the meeting, said the Government had decided to increase the volunteer force to 7000, and had ordered 5000 rifles and 1000 carbines, besides 4,000,000 rounds of ammunition. Colonel Pole Penton said that in addition to existing companies, he would like to see in Wellington a torpedo, engineer, and bicycle corps, an adequate medical staff, and three more rifle corps. The volunteer movement in Wellington, he said, was very backward.
