Washington, May 9. The Spaniards lured the American cruising ships Vicksburg and Morrill into chasing an Havana schooner, bringing both vessels under the Santa Cara masked battery, which then opened a sharp fire on them, damaging their rigging and deck fittings. Both vessels had a narrow escape.
