PERJURY.
At the Dunedin Sapreme Court yesterday the Crown Prosecutor said he did not think he waa over-statiug matters if he aaid that there was hardly an important, case tried in any Court in that part of the colooy in which perjury wae not committed on one side or the other. He attributed this to prosecutions being so rare. He thought it would be a good ides to have tablets on the wi-lis giving the definition of perjury in the criminal code so tliat witnesses would have it before them to remind them of the consequence of tulse teatimony. Alongside might be posted the ninth commandment.
