DUNEDIN.
■■; Dunedix. Dec. 16 There is not only circumstantiality but persistence in the rumour that Mr Goodman contemplates,.a,.visit to Australia in the early Autumn*, but at the time of writing I have not learnt particulars from an authorised source, nor can I say what horses are likely to go. The " man in the street" says that Euroclydon is going for certain. Blizzard must have heard the news about his young brother's doings. The old fellow has been buried in the back country for ever so long but now appears as a candidate for further turf honours—such honour as are going at Roxburgh. He is top weight amongst local horses that are not known to fame. Outram is the only one we know at all, and he has to carry nearly as much weight as Blizzard. False Impression, the two-year-old by Medallion—Apology TI. (by ( Apremont— j Gilda), has appeared in Dunedin. He is being broken in by Louis Birkner, who- also looks after Mr. L. Johnson's filly Pitch and Toss, -having .these . Berwick youngsters quartered at the stable which Poole.occupied; False Impression has been gelded.. He is a rather nice sort of youngster to look at, and very quiet. The Taieri Club is giving its generally an oppprtunity of joining in the guarantee that some of them entered into a while bock on an emergency. I look to this club as being nearly at the end of its troubles. • Jas. Cotton is now training Captive, on behalf of Mr T. Grose and another sport who is concerned in the ownership. The brother to Freedom is none too sound, but judiciously placed,as he is likely to be, he I may win a race or. two. I hope so, for his owners are good sports. If Dilemma is started in the Wyndham Handicap, he should about win, and Emmeline must' have a big say in the Flying. December 17. Referring to a paragraph in a previous message, I can now state that I have seen Good-nan, and in answer to my question as
to whether he proposes a trip to Australia, he replied : " There is not a word of truth" in it. It's all outside talk, I don't think ol going, and I never did, not at any rate til] after the Canterbury Autumn Meeting. Perhaps I may go then. I may nominate for the May Cup in Sydney and the Royal Stakes, but whether f go Is another thing. It is not certain." From Mr Goodman I went to Mr Hazlett and asked him whether there was any truth in the present rumour about Gipsy Grand being sold to go, across. " Not a word of truth in it," was his reply. Paramu, who got knocked about by accidently coming down on his knees some eight weeks since, is now in Rebel's stable, being trained by G. Smith. Euroclvdon is not a certain acceptor for the Wellington Cup. The owner has not yet made up his mind.
