DECLARATIONS BY CHILDREN.

TO THE EDITOR OT THE PRESS. Sir, —The Wellington papers from which you quote the remarks of Mr Justice Richmond in respect of administering oaths in the Courts to children are somewhat behind the times. The Oaths Act Amendment Act was passed on 17th September. 1894, whereunder all witnesses who are infanta under twelve years of age may be examined without oath on making the following declaration :—"" I promise to speak the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth," and which I applied to certain cases heard in a Justice's Court in November, 1894.— Yours, _c, J. P.
