RICCARTON.
The annual meeting of the Licensing Committee for the Riccarton licensing district, was held at the Riccarton Road Board office at noon yesterday, when there were present Messrs H. W. Bishop, S.M. (Chairman), J. Jackson, H. Nun week, J. E. Hansen, W. Henderson, J. Haydon, J. W. Overton, C. Lewis, and M. S. Campbell. The police reports on all the houses were satisfactory. The following renewals were granted :— Belfast Hotel, Hy. Smith (Mr Loughrey); Sawyers' Arms, Papanui, John Cooper; Papanui Hotel, Jas. Poff; Riccarton Hotel, J. G. Harris; Black Horse, Lincoln road, H. F. Britton (Mr Loughrey) ; Star Hotel, Addington, M. Kavanagh ; Bush Inn, Riccarton, W. C. Webb; Riccarton Hotel, Alice M. Piper; Islington Arms, P. Helmling; Talbot Hotel, Yaldhurst, John Franks ; Junction Hotel, Halawell, Joseph Murphy; Prebbleton Hotel, J. T. Moore. In the case of the Star Hotel an extension was granted till 11 o'clock on account of the proximity of the house to the Southern Cross Hotel, which has an 11 o'clock license. Applications for 11 o'clock licenses in the case of the Sawyers' Arms, Papanui, and Black Horse Hotels were refused. The meeting then terminated.
