AUCKLAND.
Auckland, May 20. The alleged ringing on of a ticket on the totalisator at the Auckland Trotting Club's Meeting on Saturday last after a race was over has naturally been a common topic of conversation among racegoers. Oa Friday night the stewards of the club sat from 8 p.m. till midnight hearing evidence in connection with the matter. One would have thought that, on the occasion of such an important matter, there would have been a full attendance. The proceedings are pretty fully reported elsewhere. I must say that in my opinion the finding of the stewards was scarcely in accordance with the evidence of Gslllbrand, who makes up the totalisator dividends, and although certain that the bell did not ring, admitted that one number in excess of the tickets sold was registered on the outside machine, and to my mind the sole question to be considered was " how did this extra ticket get registered." Yet the steward■< find " that the evidence proves conclusively that the allegation is unfounded." I exonerate Messrs Bloomfield and Adams from suspicion, and may say that when Messrs Adams and Mark, the secretary of the club, became aware that an extra ticket had baen registered they at once took steps to put the matter right. However, the one question remains unanswered, How did that extra ticket get registered ?
On Friday the American trotting stallions Grand Moor Junr and Allan Dale were sold by Messrs Hunter and Nolan. Both were bought by Mr G. H. Nolan, of Nolan and Tonka, H.wera, the former for loOgs and the latter for 139^t.
