ADDINGTON LIVE STOCK MARKET.

Wednesday, May 29,

There was a fairly large entry of stock in the Yards to-day, and an average attendance. There was a further improvement in the store sheep market, and fat sheep remained ab about late rates. Pigs were somewhat easier in price, and cattle were without change. Fat Cattle.—There was a fairly large entry of fat cattle, chiefly of medium quality. There was a good demand for anything prime. Steer beef, prime, sold at prices equal to 203 to 21s per 1001b, and cows and heifers equal to 153 to 19s per 1001b. The prices obtained were £412s 6d to £8 15s for steers, £4 5s to £7 10s for heifers, and £5 to £7 10s tor cows.

Store and Dairy Cattle—There was a good entry of dairy cows, mostly useful sorts, including a nice line from Otago. The demand waa not active, and sales were effected at all prices from £2 10s to £9. There was a small entry of stores of mixed ages and quality, the best lot being a small line of two and a-half year old heifers.

Pigs.—There was a full yarding of pigs, but the demand for baconers was not so great as usual, the Islington and Belfast Factories not operating. There was a decline in values, and 2fd per lb was about the average for baconers and porkers. The prices obtained were 24s to 333 for baconers, 15s to 25s for porkers, and stores sold at current rates.

Store Sheep—There were about 5000 store sheep yarded, and there was a good demand for all classes. The bidding was somewhat slow but satisfactory prices were obtained, most enquiry being manifested for good breeding ewes, forward hoggets and turnip sheep. Extra cood turnip webhers made from 7s 6d to 8s lOd, bhe supply nob being equal to the demand ; medium stores, mixed sexes, 6s 3d to 7s, breeding ewes, two, four, and six-tooth and full mouth, 63 to 7a, hoggets 4s to 5s 9d.

Fat Sheep. —There was only a few fab lambs yarded, and bhese sold from 6s to 7s. The entry of fat sheep was an average one, and consisted of medium to prime crossbreds with a few pens of merinos. There was only a small proportion of freezers, the bulk of the yarding consisting of fab ewes and bhree-parts fac sheep. For well-known lines of prime sheep bhere was a good demand, bub for bhe general enbry the bidding was somewhat dragging. Extra prime wethers made from lis to 13s, do do ewes 103 to 12_ 3d, freezing wethers 103 to lis 3d, do mixed sexes up to 9s 6d, butchers' ewes 83 to 10*, inferior sorts 5s 6_ to 7a 6d, merino wethers 5a to 7a.
