TARANAKI PETROLEUM.

PAYABLE OIL STRUCK. [PRS3S ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.] NEW PLYMOUTH, May 29. Payable petroleum has been Btruck at the breakwater. The oil expert reports that he obtained 160 gallons of tbe finest quality on Tuesday and 80 gallons this morning, when he had to stop pumping as he had no more barrels to fill. The only drawback is that sea water comes into the well, and prevents the oil from flowing as it should. A new bore will be commenced some distance inland in about fourteen days, in order to avoid the sea water. The present bore is only about one hundred yards from high water mark. A large Company will be floated in Sydney to put down a considerable number of bores. The expert will take tea barrels of oil with him to Sydney on Satnrdny next
