After five or six more or less important failures, Missal, on the extreme right, jumped off In front of Sancho Panza on his other fide, Marnovia in the centre, Earl of Annandale and Undecided on the left, the second lot consisting of The Owl, Euclid on the heels of Marnovia and Lottie's Dude, and the whippers-in, behind Carrick and Amandier, were Dumbarton and El Diablo. Of the last-named pair the big weight was soon racing in trouble, and together with Xury, San Giovanni, and Acrobat betrayed signals of distress when little more than half the journey had been completed. The first to secede from the front rank were Marnovia and Earl of Annandale, and when Sancho Panz* took up the running a quarter of a mile from home Euclid was in close attendance, the pair being followed by Amandier and El Diablo on the two extremes, with Undecided, The Owl, and Lottie's Dude at the head of the remainder. In another hundred yards Euclid deprived -Sancho Panza of the command, and was instantly challenged by El Diablo and Amandier, and although this pair ran their race out to the end they could not reach Euclid, and in gallant style he won by three-parts of a length from the favourite ; the same distance between second and third. Sancho Panza was fourth, placed by the judge, Lottie's Dude fifth, Undecided sixth, The Owl seventh, Missal aijrhth, Acrobat ninth, Sau Giovanni tenth and Earl of Annandale eleventh, while a long way off came the pulling-up Dumbarton, Marnovia and Xury.
