CANTERBURY COLLEGE.
The following correspondence has been handed to us for publication :— Cbristchurcu, May 15tb. To the Hon. the Minister for Education. Dear Sir,— Oar Association has been expecting to hear from you with regard to the promise you made to the deputation which waited on you, in the month of February, with reference to the introduction of a measure granting the people of Canterbury greater control in the election of the Board of Governors of Canterbury College. You intimated to the deputation that the matter had not yet been considered by the Cabinet, but that you intended to bring it before your colleagues at the earliest possible moment, and with their consent, it was your intention to introduce a Bill during the next session of Parliament with the object of popularising the constitution of the governing body. Seeing how deeply the. question affects the people of Canterbury, and that the House will so soon meet, our anxiety to know whether the Cabinet has agreed to your introducing a measure dealing with the matter or noo will be readily understood. ■ • Awaiting your reply,—l am, &c, §>3ecretab7 CAKiEEBuar Progressive Libekal Association". Mr Beeves to aaknowledge receipt of your letter relating to the question of legislating in the direction of reforming the constitution of Canterbury College, and in reply to cay that he is not just at present in a position tc give you any farther information on the subject.
