(PBBSS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.)
WELLINGTON, Janmry 3, " At the annual meeting of, the Gear Mett : ' Company to-night a dividend at the rate «f -~ ten per cent, per aunum was declared. The Chairman, in his address, said the year "' through which they had just passed had -. been a very brying one, and had presented, features in their trade little thought of a -' few years ago. In fact the frozen meat business was one of constaut chauge, and ■-- the tierce competition from other parts of . the world bad considerably affected JNew Zealand growers. The only thing left for -' this colony was to moke its quality better - than its opponents were able to do, and thereby hold a distinct portion of the Bug. lish consumption. During the year, i_ order to keep pace with the times, tt» directors had decided to import a large carbonic anhydride freezing machine of ths latest type. This was now in course of construction, and they were confident that" it would nob only effect a great saving j_' fuel, but the process would retain the original flavour of the meat better than that formerly in use. Sir Patrick Buckley and Messrs James Gear and R. M. Green, field were le-elected direotors.
