HEAVY RAIN.

(PBESS ASSOCIATION TELEORA_.) . NELSON, January 2. -'A heavy downpour of rain .occurred in the Nelson district yesterday, beyond Brightwater, and floods have resulted. A ■mall bridge on the Belgrove line, near the Wai-iti bridge, known as Line's, bridge, was rendered unsafe, and- the afternoon train could proceed only to Wai-iti. The permanent way was washed out near Belgrove. The extent of the damage, is ,unascertainable. The passengers were sent on, and the repairs will take fully a day to effect. Some stock have been drowned, and thar* it four feet of water in a settlers, house in Foxhill.
