Press Association—By, Telegraph—Copyright LtNDON. January 1. Fifty-four thousand six hundred boxes of colonial butter were stored on the 27th December. Australian frozen mutton is quoted at 3£d per lb, Wellington 3f d, Canterbury 4d. The butter salesmen propose to call a meeting to jUscusa the disclosure made in Melbourne that the brands of well-known butter factories are being illegally used. They believe these false brands are partly responsible for the fall iv prices.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following London cable message,dated January Ist:— -
Butter — Stocks heavy, market firmer. Fine qualities New Zealand are worth 94s to 100s per owt.
