John McKenzie was this evening installed Chief of' the Gaelic* Society. In the course of his remarks the Minister referred to evictions in Scotland, and said thoy would have a Lands for Settlement Act there. After he retired from office he hoped to be able to revisit Scotland, aud address them on the land question. INVERCARGILL, January 2.
